The scope brand new is $1000, if you can get one, they sell out quickly. Clouds and haze interfered with forcing the scope to its magnitude limit, but I do suspect that its image brightness and contrast will enable it to perform very well when pushed to the. The length with the glare sheild retracted is 30", and it weights about 21 lbs. When compared to an excellent 125mm apochromat, the 152mm produced noticeably brighter images with stellar rendition almost as tight as with the vaunted apo. I have removed those bolts, and installed correct length hardware so as this does not occur again if the tube needs to be slid for balancing it on your mount. The tube is not damaged perse, but it did affect the paint and scratched it. the gentleman who I bought it from accidently used a bolt that was just a little to long to mount the rings to the dovetail plate, which unfortunately results in the bolt scratching into the optical tube. The only blemishes on it are on the bottom of the optical tube, as you can see in one of the pictures. The scope as a whole, its only 2-3 months old, is in incredible condition. It is a well built scope, not one piece of plastic on it, the machining of it is very well done. My ED120 (shown next to the 150mm) is just so easy to mount and carry about and performs pretty much as well and shows practically no CA visually. It still showed a fair amount of CA around brighter targets and was also very challenging to mount adequately. It by no means removes CA, as honestly no refractor does, but around the Moon, planets, and bright stars, it is very visually pleasing, exhibiting just some blue tinge around the Moon, the stars and planets are less. The scope pictured below is a 150mm F/12 achromat with a well figured objective lens. For a doublet refractor of this size and focal length, the amount of corrected CA is decent for its size. The objectives are made with Ohara and Schott glass. I purchased it three weeks ago from a gentleman who bought it brand new and used it once, I am selling it because it is way more than what I needed for my current adventures, looking to downsize to a 100-110mm refractor. This is from the current production run of these scopes, as Starwave does not make these year round and only makes a limited quantity each year.
